Air circulation and filtration for a machine is essential for the longevity of components in regards to cooling, dust ingress and keeping equipment running within operational parameters. However, with hot summers this is not always as easy as it sounds. Are you have trouble trying to keep equipment running cool and free of dust?

Excessive dust can lead to premature wear in both gearboxes and in electrical motors and components. Vella Asset Management recently reviewed the operation of a cooling and filtration system on a large piece of equipment that was not working to requirements leading up to the summer months. Only three of the five cooling fans were operational prior to work commencing.

Three of the fans were sent off-site for repairs including the replacement of shafts, new bearings, pulleys and drive belts, repairs to the impellers and housings and balancing prior to re-installation. On site, the remaining two fans had new pulleys and drive belts fitted. The fan speed was reviewed prior to the work and optimised to ensure maximum air flow without exceeding the fan operational specifications.

This work ensured that the cooling system would be fully operational for the hotter summer months ahead. The client was very pleased with the result and felt more confident in regards to the cooling system conditions.
